Since 2018, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has been conducting the National Eligibility Test (NET) for the posts of assistant professor and junior research fellowship (JRF) in Indian universities and colleges. The examination consists of two papers, of which Paper-I—Teaching & Research Aptitude—is mandatory. It assesses candidates’ reasoning ability, comprehension, divergent thinking, and general awareness.
